About

Six years ago, our eldest son was struggling to find his place in the world. He needed to discover where his passions lie and how he would fit into this new agricultural community that we had moved back into. I had started a new job and met a friend there who showed Boer Market Goats.
She asked me one weekend if I thought it was possible for him to feed for her while she was at a show. At the time I thought, “Goats…not to sure about this, they seem so gross.” But…I wanted to support her, so I asked him. Reluctantly, he said ok….it took us about 2 hours twice a day!?!  Part of the reason that it took so long was because I could not get him outta that place. He was hooked. It seemed that he had found his passion!
So, we started building goat pens! He worked for our friends and earned himself one 18-month old Boer doe named Hope and one 2-month old Nubian named Shelbie. He began showing and continued to get better and better…he loved his girls. Out of Hope he bred and raised his first buck, HR Freedom who is still our primary Boer breeding buck. Out of Shelbie he bred and raised HR That Kidd Morgan who to this day is our Primary Nubian Buck and the sire of most of our daughters. My son, Hope and Shelbie were amazing together. He won many shows and was even FFA Champion Market Goat at State Fair! Together, they were unstoppable. There were many great memories with these two animals. Unfortunately, our sweet Hope passed away last July. She is missed every day!  Shelbie still lives on the farm with us and will continue to live here until she passes.
Both of these does are responsible for Udder Joy Farms!  It was built off of their lines and heritage. They both will forever be a part of this place!

Now in 2013…We begin our new life In Athens Tennessee!  Much preparation has gone into this transition and we look forward to getting back into our schedule.  We milk twice a day and make all of our home dairy products as well as bath and body products. It is a hard working life, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.  We believe that our goats supply the perfect milk for our bodies and desire to teach and share this blessing with everyone. We love teaching and sharing with everyone the amazing things that God has shown us!

So come on down ya’ll and feel the JOY here! :)
